Brazil

Brazil’s healthcare system is a two-speed system that reflects the social inequalities still present in the country. Social welfare is funded by employer and employee contributions.

The public system is free for everyone in public hospitals. However, care there is often inadequate, with poor hygiene conditions and, above all, very long queues.

Giving birth will cost you between

HEALTHCARE IN BRAZIL

The healthcare system in Brazil

The private system, for its part, offers services equivalent to — or even better than — those of European or North American systems. Several types of organisation exist:

– Group medicine, which brings together doctors and facilities under a pre-established health plan.
– Self-management, used by some companies that make agreements directly with certain facilities and practitioners for their employees.
– Medical cooperatives, made up of doctors who own a hospital, access to which is granted by paying a contribution.
– Private insurers, which reimburse care regardless of the facility used; the reimbursement is known in advance and depends on the policy taken out.

Care in the private system is very expensive. You therefore need Brazil health insurance if you want access to quality care.
